

Over the past 19 years Warren has personally raised over $100,000 in the annual Camp Kawartha Green-In-Motion even to raise money to assist disadvantaged children attend Camp K. Warren Craft was nominated by Rotarian Lloyd Graham for New Generations Service. He also has helped many local companies to establish business plans & systems. Dave is a Big Brother & assisted The Sisters of St Joseph develop their new residence. Dave has been involved in numerous volunteer capacities including yje boards of PRHC, Five Counties Children Centre, Peterborough YMCA & The United Way. Dave Patterson was nominated by our club secretary Brian Wilson for Vocational Service.

In addition Don was Chief of the Medical Staff at Civic Hospital for many years. Don has been a leader in many community organizations including the YMCA, Canadian Canoe Museum, Peterborough Lakers & Particpaction. Curtis was nominated By Rotarian Bob Gallagher for Community Service. AJ served on the boards of the Peterborough Legal Centre & the YWCA including a term as chairperson for both organizations.She also is an advisor to Peterborough People First & was recently on the Board of Directors for Our Space. McNaught was nominated by Rotarian Jack Gillan for Community Service.

In addition John established a private foundation which supports the peterborough Community in areas of health, education, & the environment. He also served on The Fleming College, Peterborough Foundation & PRHC Boards. John is a founding member of the DNA (Innovation) Cluster at Trent. John Martin was nominated by Rotarian Peter Norris for Community Service. Past President Lloyd Graham chaired the Paul Harris Awards Ceremony following the meal where 5 very worthy recipients from the community received Paul Harris awards. President Atul welcomed our guests including DG John Gordon (Barrie) & ADG Gary Traill (Lindsay). The annual Paul Harris Awards dinner took place Monday evening at The Holiday Inn. Go to Photo Albums for more photos of the event President Alan then presented a cheque for $100,000 to Jim Moloney manager & curator of the Zoo, click on read more to see the photo. The classroom will be used for the Zoo's Education Programs such as Zoo Crew Parents & Tots program & The Zoo Academy for grades 1, 2 & 5. Alan noted that the Zoo was created by Ross Dobbin the General Manager of the PUC & Rotary President in 1929 in 1933 when he was given 2 alligators at a convention in Florida! MPP Jeff Leal, Mayor Darryl Bennett, & John Stephenson Pres & CEO of the Peterborough Utilities Group each congratulated the Rotary Club for providing the funding to build this impressive Centre with the use of the Pugsley bequest. The project was enthusiastically supported by John Scott the executor of Pug's estate & close friend Rotarian Bob Phillips. Alan acknowledged the bequest of $100,000 from Clarence "Pug" Pugsley a Past President to the Rotary Club. President Alan Ingram gave a brief presentation reviewing the development of this exciting Rotary project. Many Rotarians & Rotary partners attended the official opening of Rotary Education Centre today Thursday July 30 at 3:00 pm. Rotarians Lyn Kimmett & Nick Avlonitis hit ‘paydirt” around The Wellness Centre area. Mark Zippel led a group again this year in a cleanup of Harper Pk. Volunteers are provided with gloves, safety vests, & garbage bags then are assigned to areas for collecting garbage & recycling materials. From our club Joe Kapron & Stan Pineau served as co- captains of the Riverside Zoo station & Pete MacLoghlin captained the Bowers Park station. Each station has a picnic table under cover of a pop-up shelter with coffee & tidbits donated by Tom Hortons. The event is well organized with 6 stations spread throughout the city & another in Bridegnorth.

On Saturday May 7 The Rotary Clubs of Peterborough-Kawartha, Peterborough, & Bridegnorth-Ennismore-Lakefield (B.E.L.) held the annual Spring Cleanup organized by Rotarian Gunther Schubert & his committee.
